Inaugural Car Boot Sale is a huge success
The brigade’s inaugural annual Car Boot Sale (CBS) and Get Ready Day stall held on 23 September 2023 was a modest event and a HUGE success.
We thank all our visitors for supporting us – even coming from as far away as Canberra – all our stallholders for participating, Dean S for allowing us to use the Warrambui grounds, Poo Carters for their generous donation of essential toilet facilities, and the weather gods for a magically still and vividly blue-sky Spring day.
Thanks, too, to our tireless brigade members who pulled the day together: Glenn, without whose concept the day would never have happened, and to the toilers on the day and beforehand: Judy, Kane, Liz, Natalie, Neville, Peter, Rick M, Ric D, Shaun, and the catering truck team: Mark, Darko and Rosie. (And to anyone else who may have helped on the day but didn’t put themselves on the volunteers list.)
As part of our Get Ready Day activities we talked to locals about their fire plans and preparing their properties for the fire season. We also had the opportunity to meet some newcomers to our area.
From all accounts, everyone had a great time: stallholders moved a lot of stock, visitors found some special purchases, the catering truck did a steady trade, and we made a bit for the brigade, too, including some unexpected but very welcome donations.
“In many minds our car boot sale has already become a ‘thing’,” says brigade president Judy Hancock. “Visitors were very excited to have a local event and many people have already said they are planning a stall for next year!”
